Financial Commitment
Orphans in the Busia District are at high risk of teen pregnancy, dropping out of school, sex trafficking, drug abuse, stealing for basic needs, etc. We train caregivers in the Busia District to make long-term commitments to their orphans by seeking partnership with Son Mission. Many smart, motivated orphans are unable to attend High School after graduating from Primary School due to finances. On average, Primary Schools cost about 25USD per year per student, whereas boarding High Schools cost about 400USD per year per student. The average salary of a caregiver in the Son Mission program earns about 300USD per year. We seek to bridge that gap by financially providing for orphans' "O" level High School education. This is not a small commitment, but a necessary one to show the love of Christ. Our aim is to practically help orphans become sustainable adults - breaking the cycle of generational fatherlessness - through long-term education and discipleship.
